With its big fenders and crazy aerodynamics, the ultra-hard-core Mercedes-AMG GT R is one of most cartoonish looking cars we’ve ever seen. That makes it perfect to appear in a movie. Apparently director Michael Bay agrees, too, since he’s just announced that a GT R will play (?) the role of Drift, previously portrayed by a Bugatti Veyron, in the fifth installment of the rebooted series, . We’ll have to wait until next June to see how the GT R fares in robot warfare, but in the real world, it’s the real deal. It’s got 577 horsepower from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8, active aerodynamics, and four-wheel steering to help it dominate all racetracks—all capabilities the Autobots are sure to take advantage of.
